“B-Smoove” Brian Reese Passes Away

It is with deep sadness to report that one of women’s wrestling’s biggest supporters and its friend, Brian Reese, better known as “B-Smoove,” has passed away.

PWGA issued the following statement on their Facebook page earlier today;

“It is with great sadness that we must announce to PGWA fans that Brian Reese has passed away.

“There were few greater friends to women’s independent pro wrestling than Brian. He served them not only as an outstanding photographer, but also as a friend, a confidant, and as a tireless booster.

“Brian was unstinting in his support of quality women’s wrestling, and the sport was all the better because of him.

“In a business where suspicion, envy and backbiting can be all too prevalent, I have never heard anyone say a bad word about Brian. People were nice to him in his presence, and still had nothing but good things to say about him when he wasn’t near. Truthfully, that isn’t always the case in wrestling.

“The cruelty in his passing is that he had been ill of late, and had very recently undergone a pair of surgeries. However, just days ago, he was released from the hospital and reported that by all accounts, he was on the mend. We were all looking forward to seeing Brian at ringside again soon. So his sudden death came just as we all believed he had successfully passed the danger point. Life, sadly, is not fair.

“On behalf of PGWA fans the world over, we offer our deepest condolences to Brian’s family and his countless friends within the wrestling community.

Ten bells for a fallen warrior…”

We here at The Barbwire Blog send our deep condolences to the Reese family for their tragic loss. It is a sad day for women’s wrestling as it lost its best friend and supporter. To quote Henry David Thoreau about a loss of a good friend; “On the death of a friend, we should consider that the fates through confidence have devolved on us the task of a double living, that we have henceforth to fulfill the promise of our friend’s life also, in our own, to the world.”

We all have to agree.
