With 2015 nearly in the books, the women’s wrestling landscape has been pretty darn impressive this year. As we start to count down the new year, let’s look at the five ladies to watch in 2016, shall we?
One of the five to watch is Chelsea Diamond, whose charisma is one of the best in STARDOM. As the niece of wrestling great and Cauliflower Alley Club president Brian Blair, Chelsea has made her mark on the wrestling scene. In fact, her partnership with fellow California-based wrestler (And 2012 Barbwire Blog Hall of Famer) Cheerleader Melissa has gotten her on the right track in the wrestling scene. In addition to pairing up with Melissa, she aligns herself with Kairi Hojo to for the Candy Crush tandem that brings crowds to STARDOM. Look for her to make even bigger waves in 2016.
Another to watch is that Hudson Envy, the AWS Women’s Champion. Ever since her war with Melissa began in 2014 her profile as a wrestler continued to grow. With AWS on hiatus right now, Hudson has made the bigger path to success by being runner up in STARDOM’s 5* Grand Prix to the eventual winner Kairi Hojo. Will we see Hudson dominate 2016 the same way she has on the West Coast and Japan in 2016? Time will tell.
When I think of women’s wrestling in the northeast, Deonna Purrazzo is the one to watch. With the ECWA Women’s Championship and the 2015 ECWA Super 8 ChickFight Tournament victory in hand, the Jersey Girl has had a tremendous year on the northeast wrestling scene. Look for great things from Deonna in 2016.
Another talent in the northeast is Ashley America, and she is one of the five to watch in 2016. With appearances in VALKYRIE, Tier 1 Wrestling and other promotions in hand, Ashley brings intensity and positivity to her matches and will do her some good in 2016. With matches against Jessie Brooks and Taeler Hendrix, look for a more competitive Ashley America in 2016.
And the last of the five to watch is the Unstoppable Thunder Rosa. Her ability to bring crowds to their feet is something to be valued, but her ring work needs some improvement in order to get to the nest level. With victories over Cheerleader Melissa, Raze and a few others to her credit, the fighting pride of the San Francisco Bay Area will indeed be one of the ladies to watch in 2016. If her fans believe in her like they have had since she started the business, they would continue to support her.
That folks is the five to watch in 2016. Big things are happening here in this industry, and of course I’m glad to cover it. Because these ladies deserve respect.
